Process Control Design and Practice

Feedforward Model-Based Control

Chemical Engineers have sophisticated models of all of the unit operations that we control, and yet for feedback control we use very simple dynamic models, often empirical rather than from first principles. Why is that? When would using our sophisticated models enhance the controlled performance of our processes? How do we incorporate engineering models into feedback control?
